Rhizomatous, erect, caespitose perennial, herb, 0.15-0.4 m high, to 0.4 m wide; with leafy stems and rigid leaves. Fl. blue-purple, Sep to Nov. White-grey sand, brown clayey sand, loam, laterite, granite. Slopes of hills and valleys, swamps, depressions, rocky hills, road verges.
