Slender, erect to spreading, sparsely branched shrub, to 1 m high, flowers pedicellate above bracteoles. Fl. red/pink/purple, Jul to Sep. Dark yellow, white & grey-brown sands, pale orange-brown clays, spongeolite, limestone, laterite,. Plains, valley slopes, watercourses, winter-wet sites, edges salt lakes, swamps.
