Erect shrub, to 0.5 m high. Fl. yellow&orange & brown, Sep to Oct. Pale brown sandy loam, sandy clay, gravel, granite, quartz, laterite. Gently undulating loam.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, spiny at least in part, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 3-8 mm long, 0.8-1 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, strongly incurved, appearing terete but grooved above; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present or absent (flowers sessile), 0.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 3-4 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 6-6.5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8-10 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, orange or brown, with some yellow, orange or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 8-9 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6.5-8 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-8.5 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.6 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5.5-7 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 6.2-7.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Mallee and Esperance IBRA regions. Conservation Code Priority Two (P2).
