Tree or shrub (with thorns along branches), to 12 m high, bark pale to dark grey, deeply fissured. Black soils, grey cracking clay, alluvium, basalt,sandstone, ironstone. Floodplains, swampy sites, cracking clay plains, river levees, rocky hillsides.
