Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems flattened, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades absent or apparently so (reduced to scales), alternate. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 0.5-1 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 2-2.5 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 3-4.2 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 6.5-8 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or brown, with some yellow, red or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 5.5-6 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 5-5.5 mm long, auriculate, keel 5-5.5 mm long, not beaked, auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.2-0.3 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 3-3.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 5-6 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in July, August and September. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Coolgardie, Avon Wheatbelt and Mallee IBRA regions.
