Erect, villous shrub, to 1 m high. Fl. yellow, Sep to Oct. Grey sand, yellow sandy-loam, sandy gravel, gravelly clay, laterite. Sandplains, slopes, hills.

Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems angular, spiny at least in part, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite, continuous with stem, 15-40 mm long, 3-20 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 4.5-6 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present or absent (flowers sessile), 0.7-1.2 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present but early deciduous. Calyx 6.5-8.2 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 9.5-12 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 9-9.7 mm long, glabrous, auriculate, wings 8.5-9 mm long, auriculate, keel 8.4-8.7 mm long, not beaked, auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.6-0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4.6-8 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 8.5-10 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest and Mallee IBRA regions.
