Scientific Description

Rhizomes tufted, glabrous. Basal sheath glabrous, dull, not striate. Culms terete, internal structure (at base of culm) hollow, glabrous, not striate, not marbled, not fasciculate. Culm 85-370 mm long. Sheaths (including blade) appressed throughout, dull, striate, glabrous, margins translucent. Apex elongated, glabrous. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants) or monoecious (with separate male and female flowers on the same plant). Male and female inflorescences distinctly dissimilar, posture (male inflorescences only) More or less erect, Culms unbranched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet 3-6 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, Outer bract 2.5-3 mm long, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute. Perianth glabrous. 3-3.6 mm long. Inner bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute. Inner bract 3-3.2 mm long. Filament 3-3.7 mm long. Anther 0.9-1.3 mm long. Female spikelet 4.2-5 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute or acuminate to attenuate. Outer bract 4-5.7 mm long. Perianth glabrous. 3-3.6 mm long. Inner bracts 3.5-4 mm long, glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute. Style three (or three-branched). 2.5-2.7 mm long. Fruit trilocular (capsule). Flowering Time January, February, March, April, June or September. Botanical Province South-West, IBRA Bioregions Swan Coastal Plain, Jarrah Forest, Warren or Esperance.
