Low, dense shrub, to 0.3 m high. Fl. orange/yellow-orange, Jan to Mar. Sandstone hills, along creeks in rocky savannah.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, continuous with stem, 22-55 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with recurved margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 8-9 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 2-4.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 6.5-7.5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8-11.5 mm long, uniformly coloured, orange, mostly yellow or orange, with some yellow or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 7-10 mm long, hairy at least in part, not auriculate, wings 7-8 mm long, not auriculate, keel 8.5-11 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, hairy at least in part. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 6.5-10 mm long. Ovary hairy or glandular; style 10.3-13 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 25 mm long, 4(-5) mm wide, constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in January, February and March. Occurs in the Northern Botanical Province, in the Victoria Bonaparte and Central Kimberley IBRA regions.
