Rhizomatous, erect or flexuose, caespitose perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.4-0.7 m high, rhizomes buried up to 5 cm deep. Fl. May to Oct. Sand or peaty sand. Dry or seasonally wet sites, valleys.
