Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 55-120 mm long, 20-60 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 7-9 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 10-12 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 15-21 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 40-55 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or green, with some yellow or green spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 30-45 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 30-35 mm long, not auriculate, keel 40-50 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 1.5-6.2 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 15-26 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 38-40 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 45 mm long, 13 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the Northern and Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Carnarvon, Gascoyne, Little Sandy Desert, Ord-Victorian-Plain and Dampierland IBRA regions.
