Prostrate, annual herbs, 3-8 cm high. Stems with sparse verticillate hairs. Basal leaves oblanceolate, 50-100 mm long, 15-30(-45) mm wide, glabrous or with sparse verticillate hairs. Cauline leaves alternate, ovate or elliptical, 7-45(-50) mm long, 2-40 mm wide, glabrous, or with verticillate hairs. Inflorescences solitary, pink or magenta, ovoid or cylindrical, 15-50 mm long, (22-)25-40 mm diam. Bracts dark brown, ovate, (4.5-)6-7 mm long, with long, verticillate hairs. Bracteoles (5-)6.5-6.8 mm long, translucent, broadly ovate, with sparse verticillate hairs mostly along mid-rib. Outer tepals (11-)13-17.5 mm long, hairy except at the apex, with verticillate hairs, the hairs not exceeding apex, the apex rounded, retuse or apiculate, serrated; inner tepals (10.5-)11.5-16 mm long, glabrous within. Staminal cup 1.8-2.5 mm long, glabrous; fertile stamens 2; staminodes 3. Ovary with tufts of sub-verticillate hairs at apex; style curved, obliquely fixed to ovary, 3.8-5 mm long, with sub-verticillate hairs. Seeds dull, black or brown, 1.7-1.9 mm long.
