Erect, branching, straggly shrub, to 1.5 m high. Sandy loam soil on banded ironstone. Slopes and crests.
Scientific Description
Shrub, spines absent; branchlets smooth, without distinct raised glands, +/- cylindrical in cross-section, glabrous. Leaves alternate, simple, 5-10 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, flat, the margins revolute, verrucose (warty), glabrous. Flowers terminal. solitary; pedicels 0.5-1 mm long, 4-5 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; corolla red or yellow, petals five, connate, glabrous; stamens twice as many as petals, 12-16 mm long, hairy; anthers 2.2-3.5 mm long, without an appendage; style 13-14 mm long, hairy. Flowers in June and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt IBRA region(s). Conservation Code: Priority One (P1).
