Tufted, wiry perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.2-0.6(-0.9) m high. Fl. green/purple, Dec or Jan to Aug. Red, brown or lateritic sand, loam, alluvium, clay, sometimes saline soils. Red sand dunes, sandstone or ironstone hills, river levees.
