Scientific Description

Rhizomes spreading, glabrous. Basal sheath glabrous, glossy, striate. Culms terete, internal structure (at base of culm) hollow, glabrous, striate, not marbled, not fasciculate. Culm 250-630 mm long. Sheaths (including blade) appressed throughout, dull, striate, glabrous, margins translucent. Apex elongated, glabrous. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants). Male and female inflorescences distinctly dissimilar, posture (male inflorescences only) Distinctly drooping, Culms unbranched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet NaN (?) mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acute. Perianth glabrous. Inner bract glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acute. Female spikelet 5.6-6 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Outer bract 3-4.5 mm long. Perianth glabrous. 1.1-1.2 mm long. Inner bracts 3.7-4.5 mm long, glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Style one, arising centrally from the ovary apex. 2-2.3 mm long. Fruit indehiscent (nut). Flowering Time April, May, June, July, August or September. Botanical Province South-West, IBRA Bioregions Swan Coastal Plain, Jarrah Forest, Warren or Esperance.
