Shrub. Stems glabrous. Leaves 25-105 mm long, 13-55 mm wide, tripartitely lobed or irregularly lobed; margins crenate or serrate; indumentum present, with non-tubercle-based simple hairs, with stellate hairs; stipules present but early deciduous (only visible on youngest leaves), 8-15 mm long. Perianth clearly of two whorls (calyx and corolla), the corolla obvious and prominent. Pedicel present, 13-14 mm long; indumentum present, with simple hairs. Epicalyx (extra segments or 'bracteoles' immediately below the calyx) absent. Calyx green, 16-20 mm long, the lobes fused half or more of their length, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) present, stellate hairs present. Corolla yellow, 22-33 mm long, glabrous. Stamens many, united and arising from a staminal tube around the style; filaments present, 18-21 mm long; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, indumentum absent (anthers glabrous). Ovary hairs or scales present, simple hairs present; style 1, 22-24 mm long, with numerous style branches or lobes, hairy for most of length. Fruits dehiscent (capsules and follicles), length-width ratio more or less as long as wide, hairs or scales present, stellate hairs present; apex distinctly flat-topped; prickles absent (except perhaps a terminal awn); terminal awns or spines present; calyx persistent to mature fruit; carpels 10-12; seeds per loculus 1 or ≥5.
