Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling or twining or climbing plants, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy or glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 3.5-15 mm long, 4.7-10 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins or flat with recurved margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 2-2.5 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 2.5-4 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles 2.2 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 4.8-7 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 9.5-10 mm long, multicoloured, orange, mostly yellow, pink or purple, with some yellow, pink or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 8.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7-9.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-7.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 6.5-8.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 10-10.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 14-18 mm long, 5-6 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, hairy, with simple hairs. Flowers in October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest IBRA regions. Conservation Code Threatened (T).
