Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.3-2 m high, fronds 1-pinnate; pinnae margin entire; sori linear, forming 2 bands, 1 each side of pinna midrib. Fl. Mar to Oct. Brown or black loam. Near creeks, in moist vine thickets, on rock ledges of cliffs or waterfalls.
