Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.03-0.2 m high, aquatic or amphibious; leaflets 4, narrow, 7-20 mm long; sporocarp with single truncate basal tooth. Fl. May or Aug. Silty clay loam. In swamps or in mud or sand of drying pools.
