Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.01-0.1 m high, aquatic or amphibious; leaflets 4, sporocarp with 2 unequal basal teeth, lower one longer, recurved. Grey alluvial soil or clay. In shallow fresh water, or in mud near temporary waterholes.
