Rhizomatous, tufted perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.4-1.5 m high, culms to 0.2 m. Fl. brown, Jan or Apr to Jul. White, grey, brown or yellow sand, sandy clay. Coastal sand dunes, sandplains.
