Sheaths (including blade) appressed throughout, dull, striate, glabrous, margins not translucent. Apex finely pointed, glabrous. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants). Male and female inflorescences distinctly dissimilar, posture (male inflorescences only) Distinctly drooping, Culms branched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet 6-13 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, Outer bract 2-4.6 mm long, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Perianth glabrous. 2-2.5 mm long. Inner bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Inner bract 2.5-3 mm long. Filament 0.3-0.5 mm long. Anther 1-1.2 mm long. Female spikelet 8-14 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Outer bract 4-6 mm long. Perianth glabrous. 9-12 mm long. Inner bracts 8-8.5 mm long, glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute. Style one, arising centrally from the ovary apex. 9-11 mm long. Fruit indehiscent (nut).
