Erect slender shrub, 0.45-2 m high. Fl. violet-purple-pink, Sep to Dec or Jan. Sandy soils. Swampy areas, hillsides.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 10-12 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, strongly recurved, appearing terete but with one or two grooves below; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 6-7 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 8-9 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 16-17 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink, purple or blue, with some pink, purple or blue spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 15-16 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 13-14.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 12-13.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 1-1.2 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 8-10 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 12.5-14 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in January, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
