Bushy shrub, 0.3-1.5 m high. Fl. orange/yellow & red, Jul to Aug. Gravelly soils. Undulating low rises.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, spiny at least in part, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 15-40 mm long, 5-12 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 3.2-5 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 4-4.5 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8-9.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or orange, with some yellow, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 8-9 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6.5-6.7 mm long, not auriculate, keel 6.5-7 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.8 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4.5-8 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 6.7-8.5 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, beaked. Flowers in July and August. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Geraldton Sandplains, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
