Slender, lax, few-branched shrub, 0.1-0.45 m high. Fl. white, Jul to Aug. Sandy & gravelly soils. Low-lying flats, depressions.

Scientific Description

Shrub, with hairy stems. Leaves 20-30 mm long, 1-3 mm wide, not lobed; margins entire; hairy, with stellate hairswith scales absent, Sessile glands absent; stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 6-15 mm long. Perianth of two whorls but the corolla reduced to small scales or tiny lobes at the base of the ovary. Pedicel present, 4-10 mm long; indumentum present, with stellate hairs present, with scales absent. Epicalyx (extra segments or 'bracteoles' immediately below the calyx) present, 2-2.5 mm long, the lobes free, indumentum present, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) absent, stellate hairs present, gland-tipped hairs absentwith scales absent, Sessile glands absent. Calyx cream or white, 10-15 mm long, the lobes fused less than half their length, Sessile glands absent, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) absent, stellate hairs present, scales absent, Terminal appendages absent, number of ribs present, three. Corolla 0.5-0.7 mm long, glabrous. Indumentum (outside) Sessile glands absent. Stamens five, free and inserted at the base of the ovary; filaments present, 0.4-0.7 mm long; anthers 1.5-2.1 mm long, indumentum absent (anthers glabrous). Staminodes absent, appendages absent. Ovary hairs or scales present, simple hairs absent, stellate hairs absent, gland-tipped hairs present; style 1, with a lobed or capitate stigma, 2.5-3 mm long, with one style branches or lobes, mostly glabrous, wing absent. Fruits dehiscent (capsules and follicles), length-width ratio more or less as long as wide, hairs or scales present, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) absent, stellate hairs absent, Sessile glands absent, tubercle-based simple hairs absent, gland-tipped hairs present, scales absent; apex rounded; prickles absent (except perhaps a terminal awn); terminal awns or spines absent; calyx deciduous before maturity, not accrescent; carpels 4; seeds per loculus 1. Flowering time July or August. Distribution Botanical Province South-West, IBRA Bioregion Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain and Avon Wheatbelt. Conservation Code Priority Three (P3).
