Aquatic or semi-aquatic herb, 0.3-0.6 m high. Fl. pink/pink-purple, May to Oct. Wet muddy soils, sandy clay, sand. River beds, often in fast-flowing water, billabongs, swamps.

Shrubs. Stems, cross section more or less circular. Peltate scales absent. Leaves 25-90 mm long, 3-7 mm wide, whorled, entire, not bullate, not viscid. Margins entire. Bracteoles present, 0.6-0.8 mm long. Bracts absent. Pedicel absent (flowers sessile). Calyx with five lobes, 0.2-0.5 mm long, not accrescent, dense, with simple hairs, not bullate. Corolla mauve, purple, lilac or violet or red or pink, 2-4 mm long, Dots or stripes in throat absent, wih simple hairs, not viscid, with four stamens, style 1.5-2 mm long, filament 0.8-1 mm long, anthers 0-0.3 mm long. Appendage absent. Flowering time May, June, July, August, September or October. Distribution Botanical Province Northern, IBRA Bioregion Northern Kimberley or Central Kimberley.
