Bulbaceous, perennial, herb, 0.4-0.65 m high. Fl. red-brown, Aug to Nov. White or red sand, sandy clay.

Scientific Description

Leaves round (leaves terete); bristles or hairs on the leaf margin absent; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape absent. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 4.5-15 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 2.5-3 mm long; pedicels present, 2-3.5 mm long; flowers 5.5-6 mm long. Perianth glabrous, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, red, clearly with three inner and three outer tepals, the inner segments 4.5-5 mm long. Stamens three, in one level; anther 4 mm long, without an appendage. Style 5.5-6 mm long. Flowers in August, September, October or November. Occurs in the Northern Kimberley, Central Kimberley and Dampierland IBRA bioregion(s), of the Northern Botanical Province. Conservation Code Priority Four (P4).
