Erect shrub, 0.3-1 m high. Fl. yellow & orange & red, Nov to Dec or Jan to Mar or May. Sandy soils over laterite or quartzite, gravelly clay. Gently undulating plains, hillslopes.
Scientific Description
Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades absent or apparently so (reduced to scales), alternate, not continuous with stem, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, 0.5-1.3; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 4 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 10-11 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10.5-11 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or orange, with some yellow, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10.2 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6-7.2 mm long, not auriculate, keel 8.7-10.2 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 7.2-8.8 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 8-10.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate or sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in January, February, March, May, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Esperance IBRA regions.
