Procumbent, spreading or erect, pungent shrub, 0.2-1 m high. Fl. orange & red/brown, Sep. Sandy soils, gravelly clay. Flats, hillslopes.
Scientific Description
Erect or prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, spiny at least in part, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 5-20 mm long, 0.8-1.5 mm wide, glabrous, terete; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 2-3 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 3.2-5.5 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 6-10 mm long, uniformly coloured, orange; claws present; standard 5.5-8 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 4.7-7.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 4.8-6 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.6-0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4-6 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 4.5-6 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 8-15 mm long, 6-15 mm wide, sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, glabrous, beaked. Flowers in September. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Coolgardie, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Mallee and Esperance IBRA regions.
