Rhizomes spreading, hairy. Basal sheath glabrous, dull, striate. Culms terete, internal structure (at base of culm) solid or hollow, glabrous, striate, not marbled, not fasciculate. Culm 200-450 mm long. Sheaths (including blade) appressed throughout, dull, striate, glabrous, margins not translucent. Apex finely pointed or elongated, glabrous. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants). Male and female inflorescences similar, posture (male inflorescences only) More or less erect, Culms unbranched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet 6.5-12 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, Outer bract 4-6.5 mm long, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Perianth hairy. 4-4.8 mm long. Inner bract glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Inner bract 4.5-5 mm long. Filament 3-3.4 mm long. Anther 1.6-1.8 mm long. Female spikelet 9-15 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Outer bract 6.5-7.5 mm long. Perianth hairy. 8 mm long. Inner bracts 7-10 mm long, glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Style two (or two-branched). NaN (?) mm long. Fruit bilocular (capsule). Flowering Time June or July.
