Tussock-forming perennial, grass-like or herb, 1-2.5 m high, panicle long, dense, spikelet cuneate, loosely 6-10-flowered. Fl. Jul to Nov or Jan to Feb. White, red or brown sand, limestone. Sand dunes, sandplains, near salt flats.
