Rhizomatous, grass-like or herb, 0.5-0.8 m high, culm with several internodes; inflorescence of 2-3 spikelets; flowers 3-merous, stamens 6. Fl. brown-black. Deep sand. Seasonally moist sites in tall shrubland or low heath.
