Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.05-0.55 m high, blade 3-4-pinnate at the base; sori forming marginal band. Fl. Jan to Feb or May to Aug. Red-brown loam, mud. Amongst boulders, on scree slopes or on seasonally wet soils, in vine thickets.
