Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades absent or apparently so (reduced to scales), alternate, continuous with stem, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, 1-1.5; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, without glands, ribless. Pedicel absent (flowers sessile). Bracteoles present and persistent, 1.2 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 3-4.2 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 6-7 mm long, multicoloured, mostly brown, purple or cream, with some brown, purple or cream spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 6-6.7 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 5.5-6.5 mm long, auriculate, keel 5.5-6 mm long, not beaked, auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.3-0.4 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 4-6 mm long. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 6-7 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 20-24 mm long, 8-10 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, glabrous. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Murchison and Nullarbor IBRA regions.
