Scientific Description

Habit and structure. Thallus dark green, shiny, to 4 cm tall, forming a hummock comprised of closely appressed vesiculate filaments. Filaments mostly upright, subdichotomously or irregularly branched from distal region of subtending cell. Cells (segments) cylindrical, ellipsoidal or clavate, 3–6 mm in diameter by 5–7 mm long.

Distribution. Widespread in warmer waters of the Indo-West Pacific.
