Erect slender shrub, 0.4-1.8 m high. Fl. yellow & brown/red, Sep to Nov. Sandy soils. Low swampy areas.

Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 10-20 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 1-2 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 3-4.2 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8.5-10 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or brown, with some yellow, red or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 8.5-10 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6.2-8.2 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-9 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.3-0.4 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5-7.6 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 7.5-8 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest and Warren IBRA regions.
