Scientific Description

Erect or prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, spiny at least in part, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 7-25 mm long, 1.5-2.5 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 10-12 mm long, glabrous. Calyx 4.5-6 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 9-16 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or brown, with some yellow, red or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 8-15 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 8.5-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7.5-10.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 7-10 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 9-11.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 15-20 mm long, 8-9 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest and Warren IBRA regions. Conservation Code Priority Four (P4).
