Slender, erect to spreading shrub, 0.1-0.35(-0.5) m high. Fl. yellow/orange & red, Jul to Oct. Sand. Stabilised dunes, limestone hills.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 15-40 mm long, 5-25 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins or flat with recurved margins; margins entire, lobed or dentate; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Pedicel present, 5-6 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent or present but early deciduous, 0.7-1 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 6.5-8 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10.5-14 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or orange, with some yellow, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 9-12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 5-7 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, hairy at least in part. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 3-4.2 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 4.8-7.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 13-15 mm long, 4 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in July, August, September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Warren, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
