Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite, not continuous with stem, 1-2.5 mm long, 0.8-1.2 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves or present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 0.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 4-6 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 6.5-8 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10-12 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or red, with some yellow or red spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-11 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 8.5-9.2 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-7.4 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4-6.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 4-4.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in October. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Coolgardie, Avon Wheatbelt and Mallee IBRA regions. Conservation Code Priority Two (P2).
