Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 6-17 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, strongly recurved, appearing terete but with one or two grooves below; tubercles absent, leaflets 5-15, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 4-4.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 3.5-5 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 10-11 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11.5-12 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or orange, with some yellow, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-10.2 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 8.7-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7.6-8.2 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.6 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4.2-6 mm long. Ovary glabrous; style 5-6.2 mm long glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 8 mm long, 7 mm wide, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in August, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Geraldton Sandplains, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Warren, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
