Erect, spreading shrub, 0.2-0.4 m high, to 0.8 m wide. Fl. yellow/orange & red, Sep to Oct or Dec. Sand & gravel, sandy clay loam. Slopes, rises, flats.
Scientific Description
Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, whorled, continuous with stem, 4-11 mm long, 1.5-5 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands present. Stipules present but early deciduous ( only visible on youngest leaves ), 6 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 1.5-2 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 2.5-3.3 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 5-8 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 7.5-11 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or orange, with some yellow, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws absent; standard 7.5-10.5(-10.6) mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6-7 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-7.8 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.6 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5-9 mm long. Ovary hairy or glandular; style 8-8.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in September, October and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest and Esperance IBRA regions.
