Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite, not continuous with stem, 5-12 mm long, 0.7-1 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands present or absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 1.8-2 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present or absent (flowers sessile), 1 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 5-5.6 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 6-7 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 13-15.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, orange or brown, with some yellow, orange or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 13-15 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 11-14 mm long, not auriculate, keel 9.6-11.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 7-9 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 7-8.2 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Warren, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
