Prostrate or twining perennial, herb or climber, to 5 m high. Fl. yellow, Mar to Jun or Aug. Lateritic & basaltic soils. Ridges, shell dunes.

Scientific Description

Twining or climbing plants. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 40-120 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands present. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 3 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 1-1.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 5-6.5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands present. Corolla 7.5-10 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 7-8 mm long, glabrous, auriculate, wings 6-7.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-8 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 5-7 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 7.5-8.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in March, April, May, June and August. Occurs in the Northern and Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Carnarvon, Gascoyne, Little Sandy Desert, Northern Kimberley, Victoria Bonaparte, Ord-Victorian-Plain and Dampierland IBRA regions.
