Decumbent or ascending perennial, herb, 0.15-0.3(-0.6) m high. Fl. pink/blue-purple, Jul to Oct. Red sandy & clayey loamy soils over limestone.

Scientific Description

Erect, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 25-50 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, leaflets 7-9, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 3.8-4 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 3.5-4 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 1-1.2 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 4-6 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with glandular hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11-14.6 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink, purple or blue, with some pink, purple or blue spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 12-14.2 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 9-11.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 6-8 mm long. Ovary stipitate; style 12-14 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, bearded (with a tuft of hairs at apex), flattened at apex. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in July, August, September and October. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Yalgoo, Murchison, Coolgardie and Nullarbor IBRA regions.
