Low-growing perennial, herb. Fl. pink-purple, Mar to Aug. Heavy soils. Along rivers & creeks.
Scientific Description
Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 25-75 mm long, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 3-4 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 4.5-5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 9-12 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink or purple, with some pink or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-10.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10 mm long, auriculate, keel 8-9 mm long, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.7-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 5-8 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 12-14 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, bearded (with a tuft of hairs at apex), flattened at apex. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 60-65 mm long, 56 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, glabrous, not beaked. Flowers in March, April, May, June, July and August. Occurs in the Northern and Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Great Sandy Desert, Pilbara, Tanami and Dampierland IBRA regions.
