Prostrate or ascending, spreading annual, herb, to 0.3 m high. Fl. yellow, Mar or Jul to Oct. Red loamy soils. Floodplains, seepage areas, clay depressions.

Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, herb. Stems flattened, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 10-50 mm long, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 1.5-2 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 3-4.3 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 4.5-6.5 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; standard 4-6 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 4-4.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 4-5.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 3-4.6 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 4.5-5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 15-18 mm long, 2-3 mm wide, sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, hairy, with simple hairs, beaked or not beaked. Flowers in March, July, August and September. Occurs in the Northern, Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Carnarvon, Gascoyne, Yalgoo, Murchison, Dampierland, Coolgardie, Nullarbor and Mallee IBRA regions.
