Scientific Description

Shrubs. Stems, cross section more or less circular. Peltate scales absent. Leaves 15-170 mm long, 6-70 mm wide, opposite, entire, with simple hairs, not bullate, not viscid. Margins serrulate or lobed. Bracteoles absent. Bracts present. 0.7-1. mm long Pedicel present, 0.5-5 mm long, with simple hairs, peltate scales hairs present. Calyx with five or ten lobes, 2-4 mm long, not accrescent, moderately dense, with simple hairs, not bullate. Corolla blue or mauve, purple, lilac or violet, 6-9 mm long, Dots or stripes in throat absent, wih simple hairs, not viscid, with four stamens, style 5-7 mm long, filament 1-1.2 mm long, anthers 0.8-1 mm long. Appendage absent. Flowering time March, April, May, June, July or August.
