Shrub. Stems hairy. Leaves 25-115 mm long, 15-80 mm wide, not lobed or tripartitely lobed, simply (once-)lobed; margins entire; indumentum present, with stellate hairs; stipules apparently absent, even from youngest leaves. Perianth of two whorls but the corolla reduced to small scales or tiny lobes at the base of the ovary. Pedicel present, 2.8-6 mm long; indumentum present, with stellate hairs, with gland-tipped hairs. Epicalyx (extra segments or 'bracteoles' immediately below the calyx) present, 1.3-1.5 mm long, the lobes free, indumentum present, stellate hairs presentwith absent. Calyx pink, blue, purple or white, 3.3-5.3 mm long, the lobes fused less than half their length, stellate hairs present. Corolla 0-0.2 mm long, glabrous. Stamens five, free and inserted at the base of the ovary; filaments present, 0.3 mm long; anthers 1.2-1.5 mm long. Ovary hairs or scales present, stellate hairs present; style 1, with a lobed or capitate stigma, 2.5-3.2 mm long, with one style branches or lobes, hairy for most of length. Flowering time January, February, August, September, October, November or December.
