Scientific Description

Erect, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 7-12 mm long, 0.5-0.6 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands present. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 1.5-2 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel absent (flowers sessile). Bracteoles present and persistent, 6-7 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 8-10 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8-10 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink, red or orange, with some pink, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 10-11 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, hairy at least in part. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5-7 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 5.2-6.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in September and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Geraldton Sandplains IBRA regions.
