Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 15-50 mm long, 10-20 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 1-1.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 2-2.5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 9.5-10.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink, with some purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws absent. Stamens ten; anthers 0.8-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen. Ovary stipitate, glabrous. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle). Flowers in May and September. Occurs in the Northern and Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Great Sandy Desert, Pilbara, Little Sandy Desert and Dampierland IBRA regions.
