Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 20-45 mm long, 6-22 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules ribless. Pedicel present, 1-1.5 mm long, hairy. Calyx 2-2.5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs. Corolla 8 mm long, multicoloured, mostly purple, with some red spots, streaks or blotches, glabrous, wings 4-5 mm long, keel 6-6.5 mm long. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short), 4-5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 6.5-8 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in May, July, August and September. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Carnarvon, Gascoyne and Murchison IBRA regions. Conservation Code Priority Three (P3).
